Johnathan, Michael and Angel in Baltimore on April 20, 2017, Train Travelers!
I met Johnathan, Michael and Angel today! They were traveling through Baltimore. Johnathan is 33 and has been on the road for about 8 years. He is a bike rider, evidenced by his tattoos! Johnathan is from Florida. As I was talking to him – a train horn blasted in the background, he immediately stopped talking and almost unconsciously said “Ma Ma?” Yes, he associates the sound of a train horn with the sound of mother calling him. He obviously loves to travel!
Michael is 28 years old, he has been traveling for 3-4 years. He is from Philly. He is the only one in his family that “travels” by train. He said he travels for the places he sees and the sights are amazing. He made it a point to tell me that he sees things from the back of a train that you can’t see anywhere else! He had mentioned that they had just walked a long way. I asked how far? He said from Elkton, MD to Baltimore. For those not familiar – that is about 50 miles. You will see his feet show it in the photos. He said the train derailed in Elkton and they had no other way to get into Baltimore.
Angel, She is 34 and from Indiana. I suspect her son will log on soon to see his mom. She has 3 kids, all well cared for in life as she travels but she talks to her oldest son the most. She was homeless before deciding to start riding trains. She is a hardcore Juggalo, fans of the group Insane Clown Posse. None of her kids are travelers but it sounds like her son would not need much prodding to start traveling. Angel discourages her son from taking up her lifestyle. Angel was a Carny (traveling carnival employee) for about 9 years before starting to ride the trains. This was a great group to meet! And of course lets not forget the dog, Juicy. Juicy is an American English Bulldog. She belongs to Johnathan.
